Windows 7 Update – How it’s faring
Posted on November 11th, 2009 by Nidhi
It’s been 20 days since the launch of Windows 7. Here’s what the tabloids news media has to say about the new operating system…

- Windows 7 ain’t the biggest hit amongst corporates – can you blame them though? We’re in the heart of a recession and it costs money to upgrade.
- On the other hand, all corporates need to update their systems at some point or the other. A lot intend to push this time as far back as possible – up to about two years.
- Windows 7 is a hit in emerging markets (where the large populations are)
- Windows 7 is doing better than Vista did in the same time frame
- Windows 7 owns 4% of the PC market (wow! that was quick!)
Considering Microsoft owns 92.5% of the OS market, Windows 7 forms 3.7% of the entire OS market. Compare that to Mac OS X’s 5.27% !
*Also note – it’s a terrible economy, and many many XP running netbooks & notebooks are practically being given away at Amazon and other retailing sites. This could be a reason why Windows 7 isn’t doing even better.
- More users are ex-Vista. More so than ex-XP.
- Intel expects to see boost in hardware sales in 2010 as a result of the new Windows 7 operating system
Glad to report all of the above make sense. Perhaps because I decided to ignore all those that didn’t make sense
