VIDEO: NVIDIA ION 2 Benchmarking
Speaking of ION 2, NetbookNews was able to benchmark the 10″ Acer Aspire 532G with Nvidia ION2 graphics, and well, it was SLOWER than the original ION.
ION uses NVIDIA’s Optimus technology which switches between Intel graphics and the ION chipset, depending on your activity. It saves a lot of battery life.
The 532G with ION 2 scored 3049, while a Samsung N150 with the first generation ION LE scores a considerable 3513. The higher the score, the better is it, and while it’s still early to be making judgments, some are surprised and disappointed with these scores.
Looks like so long as a netbook has an Intel Atom processor, no matter what type of graphics they use, netbooks really aren’t gaming devices. The ION2 will definitely be better with 1080p HD video playback and with some games, but it won’t revolutionize anything. I think what’s cool about the ION 2 is not how fast it is though, but that it comes with Optimus.
So there.
