VIDEO: Asus Eee PC 1201PN with ION2 Benchmarked
Asus added a new member to their Eee PC 1201 series. Joining the ranks of the the 1201HA, 1201T, 1201N, and the 1201NL is the Asus Eee PC 1201PN which was announced at CeBIT 2010.
It sure is a lot to keep track off but here’s what we can expect from the newest 1201:
- 12.1” 1366 x 768 display
- Atom N450 processor
- Nvidia ION graphics
- 1GB RAM
- 160GB HDD + 500GB online storage
- 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
- 6-cell 63Wh Li-ion battery
Compared to the Asus Eee PC 1201N which has a dual-core processor (which we’ve reviewed here), the new 1201PN only has a single core, so we can expect a slight dip in performance but, if it comes with the next gen Ion 2, then we can also look forward to better graphics.
Now an early benchmark test showed that the ION 2 was slower than the previous release, but we now know that there are two versions of the ION 2, an 8-core version for 10″ netbooks (such as the one we saw in the Acer Aspire 532G), and a 16-core version for 11″-12″ notebooks.
Notebook Italia also took time to run a benchmark on the 1201PN which has the 16-core version, and yes, it performed better than a netbook with a first generation ION graphics. It also scored better than a netbook with an 8-core version.
Here’s a rundown of the comparison from several people who ran benchmarks. The higher the score, the better.
