Top Netbooks for Audiophiles – Best Netbook Speakers
As manufacturers keep building better, stronger and faster netbooks, people are beginning to buy netbooks as their primary computers, not just as their second or third, travel friendly portable computer. If you fall under this category, netbook speakers are probably very important to you.
Most netbooks are known to have pretty terrible speakers. Yes they’re small, but mobile phones and devices like Nintendo DS are smaller and still have great sound.
Here are a couple of basic things you can’t enjoy without good speakers:
- Listening to music and podcasts
- Playing DVDs, watching movies or TV shows on Hulu, watching videos on YouTube
- Skype & webcam conversations
- Vlogging
- Games
We’ve compiled a list of top netbooks in terms of sound i.e. the netbooks with the best speakers, to help you find the netbook that’s perfect for you.
Top 3 Netbook Speakers
1. Samsung N120 – It seems like Samsung’s netbooks can do no wrong! The N120 has received the best reviews thanks in no small part to its subwoofer. The N120 also has tiny speakers on both sides of the display, which means you don’t have to worry about accidentally covering them up.
The two 1.5 watt speakers and the subwoofer result in impressive sound quality, giving music more clarity and depth, and louder playbacks. With a bit of adjusting, you can even raise the bass levels.
2. Asus Eee PC 1000H – A close second, the 1000H with its dolby sound system promises sound as loud as the N120. Its Dolby Sound Room stereo speakers have gotten great reviews.
Unlike the MSI Wind that offers high volume by compromising on clarity, the 1000H offers very decent clarity and depth. With a bit of adjusting and choosing the right equalizer pre-set, you’ll find the 1000H sound quality quite satisfying.
3. HP Mini 1000 – If the above two netbooks are too bulky and heavy, the HP Mini 1000 will be perfect for you. Most reviewers are surprised that a netbook as small and sleek as the HP Mini comes with such great audio playback.
The engineers saved space by inserting the speakers in the hinge of the netbook. Personally I think the Mini is a great piece of work – it looks good and works well. It is, however, slightly more expensive than the other netbooks — almost $500 on Amazon.
There you go, you now have three fantastic netbooks to choose from. If you still need better sound quality or volume, consider buying a portable battery-operated set of speakers. Altec Lansing has a set of tiny speakers that work well, and there are many larger more powerful ones available from other brands as well.
