Top 3 Acer Netbooks – Best Acer Aspire Ones
Before the much-anticipated 11.6-inch-screen Acer Aspire One gets released (oh, it’s coming soon alright) and eventually breaks netbook sales records, let’s pay homage to the number one netbook company’s current top three.
Only 3? All that Acer needed to overtake Asus were three brilliantly designed models.
Perhaps other manufacturers should take this as a hint. Once the customer walks in, he’d like to know what you’d recommend. Make things easy for him by having clear-cut choices.
Would you rather choose from one of the 3 available Acers, or try to fathom the right netbook out of the dozens of netbooks Asus has?
The three Acer Aspire Ones stood out, and were simple to pick from, and buyers didn’t bother looking past them:
1. AOD150 - Acer Aspire One 10″ Netbook
A 10-incher. Hmmmm. Are you starting to see a pattern here? (Compare this with our Asus and Samsung lists.). Despite having an overflow of geniuses at Acer, deciding on whether to test the waters at 10-inches should have been a no-brainer. Packing a larger screen along with excellent features and also improving on battery life was certainly a challenge.
Acer met it and came up with a near perfect netbook in the 10″ AOD150. It looks great -
The main advantages of the AOD150 -
- Prices begin at $349.99.
- The Aspire One AOD150 comes with a six-cell battery which equates to up to six hours of battery life.
- Intel Atom N270 Processor, Windows XP Home, 1GB RAM, integrated 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, and a 160GB internal hard drive
2. AOA150 – Acer Aspire One 9″ Netbook
Don’t underestimate this 8.9-incher. Amazon shoppers had a buying frenzy on this product last Holiday Season, eventually making it the highest selling product there. The biggest factor? Buyers found the price for a 6-cell-powered unit with a multi-in-one card reader, 120 GB SATA HD, Integrated 54g wireless LAN, and 1024 MB DDR2 RAM too low to resist.
Do note that we recommend getting the 10″ screen Acer instead of this one unless you are specifically looking for a 9″ screen.
The best features of the Acer AOA150 -
- 1.6 GHz Atom N270 processor, a 160 GB hard disk drive (5400 RPM), 1 GB of installed RAM (expandable to 1.5GB), and 2 card reader slots.
- Available 6 cell battery. Remember to buy the version with the 6 cell battery as the 3 cell battery is rather inadequate.
- Prices start from $329 (for the white one).
- 4 gorgeous colors – seashell white, sapphire blue, coral pink, and golden brown.
3. Acer AOA110
There’s only one really glaring difference between the Acer Aspire One A110 and the A150. The former uses an SSD (Solid State Drive) while the latter , an HDD (Hard Disk Drive). The advantage of SSDs over HDDs is supposedly their lower power consumption while the HDDs best SSDs in terms of capacity. It therefore appears that buyers prefer larger capacities over energy savings.
Our reviews on the Acer Aspire One 10″ AOD150 and Acer Aspire One 8.9″ AOA150 talk about them in more detail and help understand why these two managed to edge the ruling Asuses and virtually wiped out the rest of the competition. You can also read owner reviews at Amazon.
