Acer Review, Asus Review – Netbook 10

Either there’s a new netbook out every week or news of a new netbook! But what if you’re looking to buy one… now? You’ll be pleased to know that we’re working on a series of “Top 5 Netbooks by….” various, in some cases superficial, categories. Let’s start with weight!

(Note: the list represents the top 5 overall with high priority on weight)

1. Sony Vaio P – 1.4 lbs
   The lightest, tiniest and arguably the sleekest available netbook, the Vaio P is a suave 8” pocket style PC. Prices start at $900 and you can be assured you’re getting top-of-the-line specs for the price.  Battery life is 4 hours.
2. Acer One A150 8.9– 2.4 pounds
   The cheapest netbook on this list, this Acer One is 8.9” and costs $329. It comes with standard specs, and the 6cell battery lasts 5.5 hours. If you’re fine with an 8.9″ netbook, this one’s a keeper.
3. HP Mini 2140 – 2.6 pounds,
   The HP Mini screen measures 10.1”. Cheaper than the Asus 1008HA, lighter than the Samsung NC10, the Mini 2140 falls somewhere in between and costs $430 for the six cell option. It lasts up to an impressive 8 hours.
4. Asus Eee PC 1008HA – 2.42 pounds
   The 1008HA is the lightest 10” netbook available. It’s also Denise’s favorite of the Eee PC line with its sleek looks. The netbook has standard specs, and offers an impressive 6 hours on a 3 cell battery. It’s also pretty pricey at $565.
5. Samsung NC10 – 2.83 lbs
   The 10.2” NC10 netbook is cheap, powerful and light. It comes with standard specs, plenty of ports, and an anti-glare screen that makes it perfect for travel. Prices start at $400 and the battery lasts for 6-8hours.
