Asus entered a slightly open door and left it wide open. The rest, as you know, is netbook history.

Asus do make some good, solid netbooks and  if you want to purchase a netbook from the company that started it all, you might want to know what other people buy when they buy an Asus.

Top Asus Eee PC Netbooks

The Top 2 Asus Netbook models in the market (based on a combination of popularity and our own opinion of their quality) -

  1. ASUS Eee PC 1000HE - Best Asus netbook on the market. Highly Recommended.
  2. ASUS Eee PC 1000HA - Make sure you get the new model with the chicklet keyboard. Recommended.

5 more Asus netbooks (which are good – however, not as good as the top 2) -

  1. ASUS Eee PC 904HA. Make sure a 9″ screen is big enough. Check them at Amazon or Read up more on the 9″ Asus netbooks.
  2. ASUS Eee PC 900HA
  3. ASUS Eee PC 901
  4. ASUS Eee PC 1002HA - Before buying this, do take a look at all 10″ Asus Netbooks available.
  5. The Asus S101 is a beautiful netbook – However its price puts it in the high end netbooks section and we do not consider it for our ranking.

Understanding the Top Asus Netbooks List

Alright, let’s help you make heads and tails out of that list.

  1. First, all models in the 1000 series have 10-inch screens while those in the 900 series have 8.9-inch screens.
  2. At this stage of the netbook market, we’d recommend the 10″ netbooks strongly over 9″ netbooks.
  3. 10″ netbooks are already way more popular and the Asus 1000HE and Asus 1000HA netbooks sell very well.
  4. Most buyers feel that 8.9″ screens just bring too much eye-strain.

Weight with battery: Asus 1002 HA weighs less.

  • 1002HA = 1.2 kg (2.65 lbs)
  • 1000HE & 1000HA =  1.45 kg (3.20 lbs)          …They’re slightly heavier.

Dimensions: The 1000Ha and Asus 1000HE are larger

  • 1002HA = 264 mm (W) x 181 mm (D) x 27.6 mm (H)
  • 1000HE & 1000HA =  266mm(W) x 191.2mm(D) x 28.5mm~ 38mm(H)        …They’re larger.

Connectivity

  • 1000HE and 1002HA are equipped with WiFi 802.11 b, g & n plus bluetooth.
  • The 1000HA only has WiFi 802.11 b & g and no bluetooth.

That brings us to our #1 pick – the Asus 1000HE Netbook.

It’s got a bigger screen, longer battery life, and better connectivity capabilities. And its the part of the newest generation of Asus netbooks.

    Intel Atom 280 Processor is what you rated ,how they compare to a intel i5/i7 processor?

    Not very well. Intel makes Atom 280 specifically for netbooks. It’s low power usage and much less powerful than i5 and i7. The new Sandy Bridge processors in particular are spectacular.
