Top 10 Netbooks – Today’s Most Popular Netbooks
We researched a variety of online sites, read through newbook reviews, browsed lots of reports on netbook sales, and came up with this list.
The Top 10 Selling Netbooks are -
- Acer Aspire One 8.9″ – We recommend the 10″ Acer Aspire One netbook unless you specifically want a 9″ screen.
- Acer Aspire One 10.1″ – Strongly Recommended.
- Asus Eee PC 900 Series – Go for a 10″ Asus instead.
- Asus Eee PC 1000 Series – Strongly Recommended.
- MSI Wind - A good, solid netbook.
- Samsung NC10 - Perhaps the best netbook available.
- HP Mini
- Asus N10 - The gaming netbook.
- Dell Mini
- Lenovo Ideapad
April 17th Version: At the end of 2008, DisplaySearch revealed portions of a report showing that Acer finally overtook Asus in terms of volume and market share in the netbook wars. It’s interesting to note that two Taiwanese multinational companies are battling it out for netbook supremacy and a third, MSI, is slowly inching its way to join them.
Seeing the rapid rise of netbooks, a lot of big names are seeking refuge in the only segment of the PC industry that’s still growing. What started out as a lonely playing field for Asus is now a lively battleground composed of new players as well as veteran PC makers like Dell, HP, and Lenovo (formerly IBM).
While we have DisplaySearch’s results to base our own assumptions as to what the current market share picture is, we decided to do a little researching of its own. After browsing through Amazon, NewEgg, and Buy.com, we came up with our Top 10 Netbook List.
You might be wondering why Dell is so low in the list. Dell netbook just don’t have much presence in the online stores. You can actually find Dell Inspiron Minis in Amazon. People probably buy most of their Dell Minis at Dell.com. Also, the Minis are not very compelling and that makes us feel that Dell isn’t higher in the rankings.
In the meantime, as far as our references are concerned, these are today’s biggest netbook hits. Samsung is a new entrant but it’s been busy climbing up that list for the past few months. It happens to be one of the best netbooks you can buy and with the recent price-drop it’s arguably the best netbook available.
