Pre-review: Telsda twistable tablet is CHEAP
Another one joins the crowd: the Telsda netbook out of China joins the ranks of other twist-touch-tablet netbooks Asus Eee PC T91 and the Gigabyte TouchNote. The key difference – price. The 9″ T91 costs $500, the 10″ TouchNote costs a hefty 668, and the 10″ Telsda netbook costs LESS than $300!
In terms of specs, it offers pretty much the same muscle as the other two, which makes this netbook a terrific buy. It’s only available in China at the moment, but it is speculated to make its way to the US via a tie up with some telecom – it is after all a lot cheaper than other netbooks of the same build.

Features
- Twists 180 degrees and becomes a tablet. it’s also touch screen. This should be impressive, but we’ve seen it before. It’s just cool now
- Handwriting support – a good feature to have, other twist and tablets have been criticized for not having this feature. How it works on the hand will be another post to look out for.
- Stylish design – not the smallest thing out there, the netbook still looks good with it’s black finish
- ‘Dimpled’ trackpad – to enable smoother action and to prevent jerky track pad motions. It will be interesting to see how this works, it does look good.
- Built in 3G – A logical move for Telsda since they’re a handset manufacturer and are probably looking to tie up with some telecoms on broadband deals. One of the benefits of having a bult-in 3G slot is the power you save. If you use a data card, you know how power hungry they are!

Drawbacks
- So-so specs – 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 1.6GHz processor… you would think a netbook that twists, turns and can be used as a touchscreen would be more impressive on the inside. On the other hand, the netbook is cheap! at less than $300.
- Heavy at 2.86lbs. Also hard to make a judgment call since there’s no indication of whether the battery is a 3, 6 or 9 cell one.
