Sony Vaio W Goes Green with Eco Edition

I guess the “Save Mother Earth” idea that prompted Sony to come up with a netbook that is made up of recycled materials is a great idea, but would you go for a $500 netbook with the same specs as any other netbook that will cost you $200 less?

Yes, the new VAIO W® Series Eco Edition is made up for 80% recycled materials, mostly from recycled CDs and it comes in a carrying case made up of PET bottles. It’s kinda cool actually, and I’m all for it. We all have to do our part in saving the environment and preventing global warming. I just wish Sony would offer something more substantial.

Technical Specs are:

  • HD (1366×768) 10.1-inch LED backlit widescreen display
  • 250GB hard drive
  • Seven hour battery life
  • Microsoft® Windows® 7 Starter
  • 2.9 lbs.
  • Includes Kidzui and Online Family Norton software

It’s only available from Sony Style stores for the starting price of $480.

You can get an ordinary Sony Vaio W with 1.66GHz Intel N280 Atom Processor, Windows 7 Starter and Up to 7 Hours of Battery Life from Amazon.com for $425.51.
