Sony Vaio Mini W Up for Pre-Order at Amazon

The Sony Vaio Mini W is up for pre-order from Amazon.com with the brown and pink models and a $499.99 price tag for each. Funny how the white model is said to be “Out of Stock” when the netbooks, technically, aren’t in stock yet.
Probably one of the priciest netbooks around, the Sony Vaio Mini W comes with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU, and a 10 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display. The one thing that made me do a doubletake and look at the price once more with the line that says it comes with a measly 3-cell (2.5-hour) battery. For $499.99, I expected something a little more. Sony promises that a 6-cell battery option will come soon, but there’s no listed model for that on Amazon as of now. I wonder how much a unit with a 6-cell batt would go for.
I heard that Sony dislikes the term “netbook” for their netbook-style computers and prefers “internet book”. While the Mini W comes with standard netbook fare, what sets it apart from the competition (aside from the the price), is the high resolution display.
Can’t decide whether to get one or not? Head on over to our article on the Sony Vaio Mini W and see why you should or should not.
