Sony Vaio M: Budget Sony Vaio Netbook

UPDATE: The Sony Vaio M has gone official in Sony Europe, and will be available in black or white by the end of March. It’s also up on Amazon Germany, selling for € 349.00.
I’m not a huge Sony Vaio fan primarily because you can get a similar netbook (same specs, etc.) for the fraction of the price of one of those. That doesn’t mean that Sony Vaio isn’t a good brand, it is. It’s just really expensive.
The Vaio M is Sony’s “budget” netbook. It has the usual netbook specs:
- Intel Atom N450 processor
- 10.1” 1024 x 600 display
- GMA 3150 graphics
- 1GB DDR2 RAM
- 250B HDD
- 802.11b/g/n WiFi, 10/100 LAN, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
- Microsoft Windows 7 Starter
It’s selling for £300 in the UK. It’s about £100 cheaper than the Sony Vaio W but that also means a lower resolution 1024 x 600 display. It also has a standard keyboard, no chiclet for this one, and it has a matte case. No word as to how much it will sell in the States, but it could be from $400 up. If you have your heart set on getting a Vaio and will be happy with the bare minimum, I guess the Vaio M is your best bet.
Will update as soon as a product page comes up.
Looks like Stuff.tv had an unboxing article that has been removed though.
