Sony USA offers Limited Edition Vaio P with 256GB SSD!
Sony just made its limited edition “Signature Collection” of computers available for pre-order in the US. Included is a Vaio P netbook for a hefty $2,000! ($2,100 if you add tax!)
You’re probably asking yourself how can Sony charge so much for a netbook?! What does it have that the original $1,000 P didn’t? What could possible be worth $2K?

How about…
- The fact that it’s a “Signature Collection” for all those wealthy gadget lovers who can flaunt their ownership of the limited edition Vaio P. One of only a 1,000 available. (All in Onyx Black)
- Or the 256GB SSD the Vaio P699E/Q comes with! That’s right, 256 GB in solid state storage!!! That’s more than the typical netbook hard drive! And without movable parts, that saves a lot of battery power! Mmmm*
- Maybe it’s the 1.86Hz CPU. Nice, not the new 2GHz they’re shipping with in Japan, but much better than 1.60GHz and a 1.33 GHz!
But wait. If you’re a true Vaio P fan and you’ve read our review on the P series, you know that Vaio P netbooks with the 256GB SSD and 2.0GHz configuration were going to be released in Japan this month.
They have been! They’re available with those configurations at around ¥ 153,100 or only $1,600**!!! (compare it to the $2,000 the Signature Collection P is going for). And they’re available in all colors! In fact, you can buy this version no matter where you are, from Geek Stuff 4 U, an online shop dedicated to bringing the latest technologies out of Japan to the rest of the world.

*the Vaio P line currently ships with the following storage configurations in the US: 64GB SSD, 128GB SSD and 60GB HDD.
