Sony To Come Up with Tablet to Compete with iPad

Bloomberg is reporting that Sony is thinking about developing a tablet-style computer to compete with the iPad. But they’re NOT making one just because Apple has come up with one. Seems like they’ve had the idea brewing for a bit, but was waiting for more data as to how consumers would welcome the idea of a big, touchscreen device. Hello! iPad. One million in less than a month. Apparently, Sony is “not convinced there is a large enough market to justify bringing out a tablet”.

Even with the demand for the iPad, Sony is still taking it’s time with developing, introducing and launching their own tablet. They’re now focusing on their Readers to give Amazon’s Kindle a run for its money.

Aside from that, Sony is also going for new gadgets, including a device that has the characteristics of a netbook, an ebook reader and a gaming machine. Sounds like a Sony Vaio, Reader and PSP in one.
