The Toshiba NB550D is coming to Australia and Europe, and it’s pretty interesting to find out how the new AMD C-50 Ontario with ATI Raderon 6250 graphics would compare to the industry leader, Intel Atom processors. But sadly, the company isn’t planning on releasing the netbook in the US any time soon… or any time at all for that matter, according to Liliputing. While that could change in the future, as far as Toshiba is concerned, the NB550D will not be released in the States.

If you’re itching to get your hands on a netbook with an AMD C-50 processor and don’t care about the netbook brand, you can check out the Acer Aspire One 522 which comes with the chip (AMD A50M Fusion Chipset, ATI Radeon HD 6250 Graphics). It’s currenly available from Amazon.com for $329.99.

But if you’re bent on getting a Toshiba with an AMD chip, they’re going to be releasing a 15.6 laptop with an AMD Zacate so you might want to watch out for that.

There’s no mention as to if and when the new mini-notebook would make it to the US though. PC Authority says that the netbook is snappy, loads programs quickly and has reasonable boot time.

The dual-core Toshiba Mini NB305 was announced at CES last week, and, unlike some of the gadgets announced that will most likely not see the light of day, it’s already available for purchase.

Here are the new-ish specs:

1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core CPU

1GB of RAM

250GB hard drive

802.11b/g/n WiFi

6-cell battery

Windows 7 Starter Edition

Nothing surprising or out of the ordinary since it still has the older NB305′s chassis, but the dual-core processor is pretty much a good upgrade. Plus the NB305′s a reliable little machine.

Check out the product page for the Toshiba NB305-N600 (Blue) from Amazon.com. It’s up for pre-order for $379.99.

Toshiba has introduced the newest netbooks to join their 10″ line: the Toshiba NB500 and the higher end Toshiba NB520.

Toshiba NB520
It comes with a 1.5GHz Intel Atom dual core processor, 250GB HDD, 1GB of DDR3 memory, and Windows 7 Starter. It also comes with Harman Kardon speakers which should improve the sound… at least as far as 10″ netbooks are concerned. What’s cool about it is that it looks like you can use the speakers even if you’re not using the netbook. Just connect your MP3 player. It also allows you to charge your gadgets through the USB port even if the netbook is powered off.

While there’s no word on how much it will cost in the US, or if it will make it to US shores, it costs $599 in Singapore. Yes, it comes with the colorful, cheerful lid options.

Toshiba NB500
The Toshiba NB500 is a lower end (at least on the wallet) version of the NB520. It also comes in nice colors but without the speakers and without the ability to charge your phone or MP3 player if the netbook isn’t powered on. Processor is an Intel Atom N450, but it shares the 10.1″ 1024 x 600 pixel display, 250GB HDD, 1GB of DDR3 memory with it’s more powerful brother. Also comes with 802.11b/g/n WiFi capability, and a 6 cell battery.

Check out the press release here.
