No More Windows 7 Restrictions for Netbooks

windows7_logoIf you’re worried about not being allowed to customize your desktop wallpapers and themes on Windows 7 Starter as well as Internet Connection Sharing, then you can rest easy now. Microsoft has confirmed that netbooks are no longer restricted to Windows 7 Starter editions, which means OEMs are now allowed to put any version of Windows 7 on any netbook.

It’s good to hear that, but then again, it’s unlikely that we’ll see anything higher than a Windows 7 starter edition on a netbook because they’re supposed to be inexpensive, and Windows 7 is not exactly worth peanuts. Still, it’s the best operating system for a netbook as a lot of people who had tried it can attest to.

Windows 7 will be released on October 22. And again, if you’re a student, you can get Windows 7 for $29.99. You only need a valid student’s email address. More info here.
