Netbooks by Color Series: Blue Samsung and Acer Netbooks
It’s been more than a few months since we posted a netbook-by-color guide, and there have been so many netbooks released from then to now so I’ve decided to update our netbook color posts by adding the new top netbooks in your favorite colors.
Because there are a lot of new netbooks, and a lot of new colors, I’m going to be using the divide-and-conquer method and write about them by color, then by brand. Let’s start with the blue netbooks. You can find our old post here. While those in that post are still around, there are a few better netbooks in blue out in the market today.
Blue is a very calming, peaceful color. Its associated with loyalty, and a lot of people say that blue is their favorite color. It’s definitely one of mine. There are a lot of blue netbooks out there as it’s one of what I consider a basic netbook color (along with black, white and red).
Samsung alone has a few to offer.
Samsung NC10-14GB in Blue
Currently number two in Amazon’s Top Netbooks list (behind the black 1005HA-P), the NC10 has been in our previous list as a stunner, and it sure still is, although a lot less expensive than its original price of $458 from our previous entry. Right now it’s only $329.99 from Amazon.
Specs include an Intel Atom N270, 160GB, 2.5″ SATA HD and a 1GB DDR2, with Intel 945GSE shared, 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 10.2″ 1024 x 600 WSVGA screen, Microsoft XP® Home with Service Pack 3, 1.3 Mega Pixel webcam and a 6-cell Lithium Ion batt that can last up to 8 hours. It’s also highly rated by customers and reviewers. Our own review is here.
Samsung N120 in Blue
The blue Samsung N120 is a bit more expensive than the black or white ones at $419.00 but it sure is pretty.
Specs are 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom N270, 160GB 5400 RPM SATA, 1 GB DDR2 expandable to 2GB, Windows XP Home, 10.1″ 1024 x 600 WSVGA, USB x 3, 3-in-1 Card Reader, Built-In 1.3 Megapixel Webcam, and 802.11b/g WiFi.Our review is here.
Samsung Go (N310) in Midnight Blue and Mint Blue
The Samsung Go is the new name for the Samsung N310 and, in my opinion, still one of the coolest netbooks around. It has a lot going for it, but the rubberized, durable chassis may be the biggest seller for Go. That and its truly awesome battery life. Its also less expensive now, selling for $429.95 ($49.05 cheaper than its original list price). You can choose between two shades of blue, midnight blue which is the darker color to the left, and mint blue, the more flirty color to the right.
Technical specs of the Samsung Go are as follows: 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1GB DD2R RAM, 160GB Hard Drive, Windows XP Home, Up to 9 Hours of Battery Life (6 Cell 8850mAh), and 10.1″ wide LED-backlit LCD display. Read our review here.
Acer also has a couple of netbooks in very nice shades of blue.
Acer Aspire One AOD250-1165 in Sapphire Blue with a 3-cell battery
The Acer Aspire One D250 is one of them. It’s a fairly good netbook and one of the better performers in the netbook market for its low cost. It’s only $295.00 from Amazon at the moment.
Here’s a review of the specs: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM), Windows XP Home (SP3), 10.1″ WSVGA Acer CrystalBrite LED Display, Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Read our review here.
Acer Aspire One AO751h-1192 in Blue
It has a better battery than the D250 and it has an 11.6″ screen. If you want a bigger, better, blue Acer, this machine might just be for you. It sells for $345.95 from Amazon.
Here are the specs: 1.33 GHz Intel Atom Z520, Intel GMA 500, Windows XP/Vista, 1GB RAM, up to 250GB storage, 11.6″ (1366 x 768) display, 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, 10/100 LAN connectivity, 3 USB, VGA, multiple card reader, optional SD card reader (mini SD and Memory Stick Duo/Pro), a choice of 3 cell or 6 cell (5200 mAh), with dimensions at 11.2″ x 7.8″ x 1.0″ and weights 2.8lbs or 3lbs depending on the battery. Read our review here.
So far, those are the good blue netbooks from Acer and Samsung. Watch out for Asus and other netbooks brands, as well as other colors. We’ll be posting on them soon.
