Netbooks Around the World: Sony Vaio W Billabong Edition

Sony Vaio W Billabong Edition

When I first saw the new design for a special edition of the Sony Vaio W, my first thought was “Surf’s up, dude!”, and then I read that it was designed by Billabong, an Australian company that makes surfing and outdoor clothing and equipment. That explains it.

The Sony Vaio W isn’t really a stand-out in the netbook world, with it’s 10″ display and chiclet keyboard. Specs don’t stand out either. The designer edition will ship out with the usual netbook flavor of Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB RAM and a 260GB HDD, and Windows 7 Starter. It does have a high resolution, 1366 x 768 display which is what it can boast of. Another aspect that makes the Vaio W different is it’s Vaio price.

It will be available in Australia come July for $750 AUD which is roughly $624 US.
