Acer Review, Asus Review – Netbook 10

MSI Wind Taiwan has officially announced  a new 12.1″ netbook, the MSI Wind U230. The 12″ U230 comes with Windows 7 Home Premium and a dual core AMD processor. The netbook boasts better performance and even supports HD video and DirectX – and comes with high HD resolution at 1366 x 768.  MSI Wind claims  60% less power consumption; it claims 4 hour battery life on a 3 cell battery. Pretty impressive.

The netbook weighs 2.86lbs with a 3 cell battery. Not bad for a 12.1″ netbook. 4 hours is decent, but you may want to opt for a 6 cell battery which would pit the netbook’s weight to over 3lbs.

The U230 comes in 5 different power saving modes: Gaming, Movie, Presentation, Document, and Turbo Battery. Interesting that Gaming is included in the list – an indication that the dual core processor will make the netbook more gaming-friendly perhaps?

The U230′s keyboard has been designed to be more ergonomically friendly, with each key bigger by 51%.

The netbook sounds a little too good to be true :) – especially with all the generic netbooks we’ve been seeing on the market lately. We’ll have to see some test pieces out there and reviews to see whether it stands up to its claims. No word on availability or price yet.
