Lenovo S10 10.2″ Ideapad Netbook Review
Lenovo may not be as popular a name as Acer, Asus and Samsung, however they have come up with a pretty decent netbook that people have rated quite well on Amazon. Lenovo’s first foray into netbooks is the Lenovo Ideapad S10 10.2″ netbook. It’s been out for quite a while but since most netbooks pack a similar standard configuration, the S10 is still pretty competitive.
The 2.65 pounder is about an inch thick which makes it just about the right weight and dimension for toting around. What’s inside is the basic netbook configuration:

10.2-Inch screen 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor 1 GB RAM 160 GB Hard Drive Windows XP Home 4-in-1 Card Reader(SD/MMC/MS/MS pro) 1.3 megapixel integrated camera Express Card Slot/34 Broadcom 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless
The Lenovo Ideapad S10 comes with OneKey Rescue System 6.0 which allows you to restore your hard drive to the original factory settings with one click. All of the original files, drivers and programs will still be intact if you encounter problems with your software and the netbook goes haywire. It’s very easy to upgrade, too, unlike other netbooks. You don’t need to get everything out of the chassis just so you can install a bigger memory stick. A panel at the bottom allows access to the hard drive and memory slot which can be easily upgraded in no time.
The design doesn’t look too shabby either. It’s also built more solidly like the Asus Eee PC line, with a big, comfy keyboard and trackpad. The 10.2″ screen is wide and bright, which is a great improvement from smaller 8″ screens.
You can get one with a 3-cell battery or one with a 6-cell battery. The 3-cell battery netbook can run for a measly 2.5 hours, unplugged and costs $349.00. It comes in black, white and red. The Lenovo Ideapad S10 with the 6-cell battery comes in black and is $399.99. We strongly recommend getting the 6 cell version.
For a netbook under $400, and one of the older models as well, the Lenovo Ideapad S10 10.2″ netbook is still a pretty good deal. It is a generation behind the latest netbooks so keep that in mind.
