Lenovo IdeaPad S12 Sans NVIDIA Now Available
Lenovo is now open for orders for the Lenovo IdeaPad S12. While we’ve heard that the NVIDIA Ion Graphic Card would debut with the IdeaPad S12, the batch that is available from the Lenovo site comes with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Also, originally, the S12 with the NVIDIA Ion was expected to cost $499. The ones on the Lenovo site (without the NVIDIA) has a base price of $499, so what gives?
Upon closer inspection, the tech specs of the Lenovo IdeaPad S12 is pretty much the same as the smaller and cheaper Lenovo S10, except for the 12.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display. It has the usual 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 6 cell battery, Broadcom 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless, and runs on Windows XP Home.
Expect the current batch of Lenovo IdeaPad S12s to ship out in more than four weeks or so. And the ones with the NVIDIA Ion are expected to be released come September.
