HP Updates Netbook Lineup with the Mini 110 and 1101

Looks like HP is adding a few new netbooks to their lineup with the new HP Minis. All three new netbooks feature 10.1 inch screens with 1024 x 574 pixel displays, and a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processors. While the new HP Mini 110, Mini 110 Mi Edition and the Mini 1101 are quite like the HP Mini 1000 series, there are a few features that the new netbooks have that differentiates them from the older series.

  1. Can you say high capacity hard drives? The newer models, having a thicker chassis, can have HDDs that pack 160GB of storage space. The smaller HP Minis only have up to 80GB because of their smaller bulk.
  2. Depending on the OS, RAM can reach 2GB with 259GB HDDs. This one is for those that don’t run Windows XP. The HP Mini 110 MI Edition runs on Ubuntu Linux; the HP Mini 1101 can run either Windows XP or Vista.
  3. There will be additional colors such as White Swirl and Pink Chic to add to the standard black. So while they look similar, the Mini 110 will still stand out from the sea of 1000s.
  4. Aside from that, the new netbooks will also have three, instead of two, USB ports and a VGA port. The new series will also come with Syncables software for easy syncing between the Mini and your PC.
  5. HP will also add a video hardware accelerator from Broadcom come July for a $30 upgrade, as well as an option to upgrade to a 1366 x 768 display.

The HP Mini with XP and Mi are going to be available in the U.S. on June 10, with the Pink Chic and the White Swirl HP Mini 110 following soon behind. Starting price is $279.00.
