HP Slate 500 Shows Up on Site
Waiting for an HP tablet? While we’re busy scrutinizing the WebOS Slate (to be known as PalmPad), HP has a device called HP Slate 500 out and about in some HP sites. Recent HP news says that HP has filed for a trademark on the term PalmPad, so we’re going to have to tolerate another “pad” in the making.
Anyway, back to the Slate 500. There isn’t a lot of info on the tablet except that it would have an 8.9″ display, an unknown-as-of-yet processor, two cameras, and Windows 7 Home Premium. Word is that it will also support pen input, although we don’t have information on what type of screen it will have. The PalmPad will also have an active digitizer, which will enable users to use a Wacom pen, as well as a capacitive screen to support touch, as in fingers.
I haven’t had any experience with a stylus. My first “touch” experience was with an iPod Touch. Sure, it’s not very comfortable writing with your fingertip, so the stylus would really come in handy for a lot of things, and I’m sure there are still a few people who’d love to have a stylus in handy. We’re going to have to watch out for the price though.
Am sure more info will rain on us soon.
