HP Mini 110 – It’s pink, and comes with Windows 7

The HP Mini 110 netbook is available for pre-order and will release on October 22, the day Windows 7 is made available to the world.

The pink HP Mini 110 is the ultimate netbook for the ladies. It’s an HP, so you’re assured a good sturdy netbook that looks good and does what it’s supposed to. This version is coming out with Windows 7, so you’re looking at a better, quicker, cleaner computing experience. And! It’s pink! Not just the outer chasis, but the inside too! Pink keyboard and touch pad. What more could you ask for? :)

Unfortunately, the pink color comes with a price. It’s selling for $440, while the black HP Mini 110 is available for $400 and the white model for $380.  Fashion always was an investment eh?

A quick look at the specs will help you decide on the price. Let’s use the Windows 7 version of the Asus Eee PC 1005HA as a benchmark since it’s the best-selling 10″ netbook on the market. The Win7 1005HA will be selling at $400 (ONLY).

HP Mini 110 Specs:

  • Processor: 1.6 GHz Intel N270 – the 1005HA comes with the slightly more powerful 1.66GHz N280
  • Memory: 1GB RAM
  • Storage: 250 GB HDD – this is a lot!
  • Dimensions: 10.3″ x 6.77″ x 1.04-1.29″ – thinner than the 1005HA seashell, not bad.
  • Battery: 3.75 hours – this is barely anything. The 1005HA comes with 10.5 hours of battery life, at the same price.
  • Weight: 2.35lbs – this is good; the 1005HA weighs 2.42lbs with a 3 cell battery and 2.8lbs with a 6 cell.

Other things worth noting: the touchpad buttons are located on either side of the touchpad as opposed to below it. This can get quite annoying for those of you used to normal laptops!

Bottom line

The HP Mini 110 is a good buy. At $440, you’re getting it with Windows 7 and decent specs. The only downfall is the ephemeral battery life. If you like the HP Mini 110 model but don’t have as much money to shell out, go for the cheaper white model. It’s $380 and comes with the exact same features. The Windows 7 range of HP Minis is already available for pre-order.
