Green Netbook Guide – Green Netbooks that Soothe
Green is a cool color that symbolizes nature, growth and freshness. It’s also the color that mostly relaxes the eyes, so it seems to be a pretty good color for a netbook. After working hard or surfing, just looking at your green netbook should help rest your tired eyes.
If we’re looking at Amazon, it’s a bit disappointing that there’s only one netbook that comes in green - the Asus Eee PC 901 in Sweet Pea Green (read our extended thoughts on Asus Eee PC 901 here). It’s packed with -
- The netbook staple 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, and 1 GB RAM.
- Storage is 12 GB Solid State Drive plus 20 GB Eee Storage.
- The Asus Eee PC 901 8.9″ runs on XP Home and retails for $279.99 from Amazon.
- It also comes with a 6-cell battery that allows you up to 7.5 hours of battery life.
Dell Inspiron Mini 10 also comes in the same shade of green. Its main features are -
- A 10.1″ screen.
- An Intel Atom processor (Intel Atom Z520) and Windows XP Home.
- Like the 901, it has 1GB memory and 160 GB HD.
- The Inspiron Mini 10 is available for $399 if you’d get the one with Wireless 802.11g (1397) Mini Card.
- If you’d rather have the one with the Wireless 802.11g/n (1510) Mini Card plus an InHome Service after Remote Diagnosis, it’s $499.
You can check the Dell website for more information.
The two netbooks are pretty well differentiated – if you’re price conscious, get the Eee PC 901 (9″ screen, only 12 GB SSD drive). However, the Dell Mini is more recommended as its more up to date with its 160 GB storage, 10″ screen
Asus has the right of it, calling the color pea green. But like red and pink, and my favorite color, blue, there are a lot of shades of green that would look really good on a netbook. Netbook manufacturers really should consider that netbooks are also accessories and should catch a user’s eyes apart from being functional.
