Gigabyte’s 10″ Convertible Touchscreen Netbook Available for $679
While there may be more touchscreen netbooks coming in 2010, there are only two options for convertible, tablet-style netbooks, the 8.9″ Eee PC T91, and the bigger, hopefully better, Gigabyte TouchNote T1028X that is now available from Amazon.com. Looks like it’s just a juiced-up version of the TouchNote T1028M which has a lower resolution screen.
The 10″ Gigabyte TouchNote should be better than the T91 because of the bigger screen, a larger 92% full-sized keyboard, the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 (instead of the sluggish 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 CPU in the T91). It also has 160GB HD and an ExpressCard slot in comparison to the T91’s measly 16GB solid state disk.
Liliputing has pointed out that it may be the “one of the cheapest 10 inch convertible touchscreen” in the market out, it’s still kinda pricey. The Gigabyte TouchNote T1028X that is now available from directly from PC Micro for $698.00. You can get it from Amazon.com which has it priced $20 cheaper at $679.00 (although it still ships from PC Micro).
