Fisher Price iXL is Like an iPad for Kids

I love watching Owl City’s video of Fireflies because I recognize the ubercool 80′s and 90′s toys, and they definitely bring me back to my childhood. But then again, I guess I never grew up because I still enjoy walking up and down the aisles of toy stores and gawking at the awesome toys the kids today get to play with.
Such as the Fisher Price iXL which pretty much lets kids do everything you can do on your iPhone (or at least, an iPod Touch).
This gagdet is geared for three-to-six year olds, and while it looks a whole lot complicated for the little tykes, I’ve learned not to underestimate their ability to handle gadgets. It looks like a baby netbook with touchscreen, a stylus and applications that can rival an Apple tablet. You can also use it in landscape or portrait mode. How cool is that?
There are six loaded educational programs on the device which includes a story book, games and music players, an art studio, a photo album and a notebook. The storybook allows read-alongs and the notebook helps the little ones learn their ABC’s. I remember when I was a kid and my grandfather bought me my first stamps and stamp pad, and there were purple monkeys lining the walls at my height. This little toy allows the kids to contain their artistic creativity on the iXL. Other apps and programs will also be downloadable following the launch, which Fisher Price wisely timed, in October for $79.99. Reasonable, if not downright affordable for the type of toy it is, if I say so myself.
