Acer Review, Asus Review – Netbook 10

The Mickey Mouse-meets-Asus netbook, the Disney Netpal has been out for pre-order for quite a while but as we get closer and closer to the estimated ship date, I’m sure the little techies are getting more and more excited about getting what, essentially, should be a My-First-Netbook thing.

It’s available from Amazon is the Disney Netpal in Magic Blue for the little boys, and the sweet Princess Pink. for your little Disney Princess. The Princess Pink netpal is also available from Toys-R-Us here and the Magic Blue netpal from here. Both stores have them for pre-order for $349.99.

The netpal is an 8.9″ Asus netbook with a LED-backlit WSVGA 1024 x 600 screen, 1GB DDR, 16GB SSD, WiFi-capable, and runs on an Intel Atom N270 processor. It’s operating system is a Windows XP Home with lots of customizable Disney features which includes desktop wallpapers, widgets, programs and games. It has a spill-proof keyboard and ShockShield data protection, which in my opinion, is not only kid-friendly, but me-friendly, too as I tend to spill on, or drop, anything. Parents shouldn’t be worried about their kids stumbling upon inappropriate content as they are given a ton of parental control options, allowing only as much or as little as they want their kids too see. They can also control with whom their kids can send and receive email to and from. The Netpal also runs on a 5-hour battery.

I really kind of want one for myself. While the Asus Eee PC 1005HA still remains my favorite netbook, I wouldn’t mind getting a Disney Netpal for myself :D I grew up with a lot of Disney.

It is expected to ship, at least from Toys R Us, on August 11th.
