Differences between the Dell Mini 10 and Mini 10v

Think of the Mini 10v as the lite version of the netbook – specs aren’t as superior and it’s more affordable.

Where to buy the Mini 10 and 10v from

The benefits of buying them from the Dell Shop are that you can customize it to your choice. Note: they’ve reorganized the site and have renamed the netbooks in a very confusing manner: Mini 10v and  Twitter Mini (preloaded with Windows 7)…. and the Mini 10s are now: Mini with TV Tuner and Travel Mini (HD & GPS). Benefit of buying them from Amazon – you might find better cheaper deals when it comes to getting a six cell battery.

Differences between the Mini 10 and Mini 10v

Different Processor Lines
The Mini 10 comes with Intel Atom Z processors – you can choose from the 1.33GHz Z520 and the 1.60GHz Z530. These processors are more energy effective that the N line of Intel Atom which the Mini 10v comes with. In the Mini 10v, you can opt for the 1.6GHz N270 or the 1.66GHz N280.

About 0.1lbs :)
The Mini 10 weighs 2.6lbs and the Mini 10v weighs 2.5lbs and this will change depending on your battery choice (3cell vs 6cell), so ignore the weight factor completely.

Mini 10 offers HD Display
Both the Mini 10 and the Mini 10v come with the same Glossy 10.1″ LED display with a 1024 x 576 resolution. However the Mini 10 (Travel Mini) offers an optional HD display with a 1366×768 resolution.

Mini 10 offers Intel GMA 500 and the Mini 10v offers Intel 945GSE

Mini 10 offers more storage options
With the Mini 10, you can pay for up to 250GB HDD and 64GB SSD. The Mini 10v offers only up to 160GB HDD and 16 GB SSD.

Mini 10 (Travel Mini) offers optional GPS
The Mini 10v doesn’t.

Mini 10 offers optional TV Tuner
The Mini 10v doesn’t.

Mini 10v comes pre-loaded with Windows 7
You’ll have to pay an extra $30 to get the Windows 7 on the Mini 10.

Dell Mini 10 prices start at $350 and the Mini 10v starts at $280.
