Dell Mini 5 Looks Like a Huge Smartphone/Tiny Tablet

Dell Mni 5 preview

The Dell Mini 5 looks like an over-sized smartphone or a really tiny netbook, depending on how you see it. With a 4.8″ screen and weighing only 8 ounces, you can hold it up to your ear to make calls, but still, it’s a bit too big to be a phone. Remember the time when cellular phones were the size of books? That’s what this reminds me of, except it’s thinner. It’s also such a tiny tablet with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset (1Ghz), Google Android OS and 3G connectivity.

I read Engadget’s impressions on the Dell Mini 5 prototype, and they sound pretty impressed by it, except for the minor issues that I’m sure Dell will work on before they get this little baby into production, starting with the Google Android 1.6. There are definitely a lot of “works-in-progress” when it comes to the Dell Mini 5 including the video codecs, the landscape and portrait modes, video calls, refresh rates for Twitter and Facebook (of course, v.important), and so on.

Looks like we have to wait and see what improvements Dell will still make on their smartbook-slash-tablet.

Head on over to Engadget for more information.
