Dell Mini 10 With GPS Coming to the US

Dell Inspiron Mini 10_greenIt looks like Dell will finally start offering the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 with the Dell Wireless 700 location solution starting next week. This means the Mini 10, at least those offered in the US, will have a GPS card with built-in WiFi locationing which can get your position using GPS or WiFi access points, and the CoPilot navigation software that gives you 2D and 3D map views which allows you virtually no excuse to get lost.

Dell adds that initial support will be for Windows XP, but support for Vista and Windows 7 wouldn’t be far behind. And while the Mini 10 is the first to offer the Dell 700, they’re definitely planning to expand it to more systems as well as more regions.

This added feature will probably impact battery life as well as price. In a way, with the release of the iPhone 3G S with it’s nifty positioning and navigation whatchamacallits, it’s not a surprise that netbooks aren’t far behind.
