Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition

So cute! After Disney and Asus teamed up for the Disney Netpal, Dell and Nickelodeon followed behind. A Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition is a Dell Inspiron Mini 10v netbook that can be personalized with characters from iCarly and SpongeBob Squarepants. A “green slime” edition is also available. I guess Dell got a bit worried with the Asus/Disney collaboration. This is their first time building computers targeted specifically for kids.

Pretty much like the Disney Netpal, the desktop has widgets that allow kids to choose their games as well as TV shows from Nick.com. There are parental controls as well, allowing parents to limit web access to specific sites. It runs on Windows XP with a custom-built Nick theme by Stardock Systems. If it has the same specs as an Inspiron Mini 10v, it will feature a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and 160GB hard drive, and a 10.1″, 1024 x 576 pixel display.

While info did not include prices, we can expect it to be available in October directly from Dell or from Wal-Mart, just in time for the holidays. But if you can’t wait to get your little one a netbook of his or her own, the Disney Netpal is available for pre-order in Magic Blue and Princess Pink for $349.99 from Amazon.

  3. I love mine. Performance, price, and size. I’m not interested in the Nick theme, so I’m not using that (which I’m sure saves some RAM). I’ve got graphic, sound, and emulation software on there so far. Upgraded to DX-9c, installed Firefox, quicktime, and SpybotS&D with NO problems.

3 USB ports to hook up anything you need.. CD/DVD drive, mouse, printer, flash drive etc… All in all.. VERY cool!
