Black Friday Deal: Verizon offers $29.99 netbook
This just out on the blogosphere: Verizon is offering a 10.1″ Gateway netbook for $29.99 with a 2 year 3G contract – after a $100 online discount. The deal runs from Black Friday through Cyber Monday, i.e. next four days.
To put things in comparison, this netbook was previously available from Verizon for $150 and is available un-subsidized from Amazon for $260 with a 3 cell battery.

Gateway isn’t anywhere near my list of top netbooks. In my opinion, it’s a cheap copy of sister company Acer’s Aspire One line. Despite my personal reservations, at $29.99, it’s an absolute steal.
You won’t be getting the crème de la crème of the Gateway line up – the netbook will come with Windows XP, a 1.6GHz N280 Intel Atom processor and 160GB HDD. Good news is it comes with a 6 cell battery and has mobile broadband – so you’ll save on costs of a data card and about an hour of battery life.
Bottom line
If you’re interested in getting a cheap netbook for basic computing and are absolutely sure you want a 2 year 3G contract, this deal is perfect for you. I suspect a lot of people will be ‘queuing’ up for it online, so don’t wait until Monday if you’re positive you want one.
