Asus T91 now available, not so impressive
This just in: the long awaited Asus Eee T91 is now available on Amazon for $500! Cheaper than you expected? That’s because this is the standard version and doesn’t come with ANY of the cool features we’ve been drooling for all year. No multi-touch screen, no GPS, no digital TV Tuner, no 3G support. Asus saved those for separate models.
The T91A comes with the same specs as the standard T91 and also the muli-touch screen and Windows 7 which is far more touch-friendly and netbook-friendly than XP. No surprises – this version won’t be available until after October 22nd, the day Windows 7 launches.
The GPS, digital TV Tuner and built in 3G module are part of the T91Go – which conversely doesn’t have multi-touch. For a company that usually whips out top-notch netbooks with no hassle, Asus sure is messing up with this one. No word on when this will be available or for how much.
I guess it’s back to the waiting room for us lot then. You do not want to buy the standard T91. At $500 it’s way too expensive, and the XP-touch support has gotten terrible reviews. Also, it comes with a 16GB SS which won’t get you very far at all. Better wait until all the cool stuff comes out.
Here’s a comparison of the specs of each model (pretty much the same – I expect these to change slightly when the T91A and T91GO come out.)

Note: The Asus T101H is rumored to launch in August or September of 2009.
