Acer Review, Asus Review – Netbook 10

After the disappointing review of the all-plastic, 11.6″ Acer Aspire One 751, I’ve been looking for sturdier netbooks and stumbled upon a new netbook. Asus just wrapped the already rather striking Asus Eee PC 1002HA, wrapped it in an ultra durable and very stylish aluminum skin, threw in a faster and more efficient Intel Atom 1.66GHz N280 processor, and added the “E” to the name. Viola! Welcome the new Asus Eee PC 1002HAE.

Now, the Asus 1002HA in itself is already a pretty good deal for a netbook.

Add the classy aluminum casing and a new processor, and I’m sure the Asus Eee PC 1002HAE will rock. The thing is, Asus has only announced it’s May 16 release for Japan. It will be selling for ¥49,800 ($500) and will come in metal gray, deep red and dark blue. If it won’t see the light of day in the States, you can always turn back to the Asus 1002HA which doesn’t have the aluminum skin, but the argent gray-colored chassis is also attractive and sturdy. It’s available at Amazon for only $414.88.
