Asus Eee PC 1001PQ is a Kids’ Netbook

There had been a few netbooks that have been officially for kids including the Disney Netpal, and the Nickelodeon Edition of the Dell Mini. Asus is adding to the list with the Asus Eee PC 1001PQ.

Displayed at CeBIT 2010, it basically looks like a rebranded, repainted 1005HA with the same looks, exterior and keyboard. There’s no word on the OS, meaning which version of WIndows it will come with, but there’s a kid-friendly desktop they’re calling “Magic Desktop”, and kid-friendly apps and probably tight parental controls.

Specs include:

  • 10.1” 1024 x 600 display
  • Intel Atom N450 processor
  • GMA 3150 graphics
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB HDD
  • 802.11b/g Wi-Fi
  • 6-cell 48Wh battery (11 hours)
