Asus 8.9″ Eee 4GB PC Netbook
Target, via Amazon are offering a $20 price cut on the adorable Purple Asus 8.9″ Eee 4GB PC Netbook.
Note: this is a very, very basic netbook. Buying a 10″ netbook isntead is recommended. Only buy this if you can’t afford to spend more than $250.
From $269.99, you can now get it for $249.99. It’s a super-light and compact design (weighs 2.18 lbs.), with an 8.9″ screen and comfortable, multi-touch keypad. It also comes with Linux and has OpenOffice pre-installed. Which means you can create and edit documents as well as enjoy the hottest WiFi spots. It comes with an 802.11b/g WiFi LAN. There’s also a built-in microphone, speakers, and audio jack so you can also enjoy movies and listen to music.
It’s really quite basic. It doesn’t have a webcam, and won’t do well with gaming, but then, it does what a netbook is designed to do, meaning surfing the net, chatting, email and online shopping. While it comes with a 4GB Solid State Disk, the built-in flash memory which allows you to save space on the 512MB DDR2 Memory hard drive. The USB ports also allow you to expand that memory when you need it. Storage can also be upgraded through the built-in SD card slot.
Personally, the clincher for me is the fact that it’s stylish and is a pretty purple. If you’d want a really basic sub-$250 netbook, then this one is a great choice.
