Asus 1008P – The new Dream Netbook?

The Asus 1008P comes with a leather finish in brown and pink. Both very exquisite colors. It also comes with the 1.8GHz Pineview N450 processor, making it the first netbook (I’ve heard of) to come with the new line of processors from Intel. The 1.8GHz N450 isn’t the 2.0GHz processor select Japanese Vaio Ps are shipping with, but it’s the best processor you’ll find in the States. And considering the 1008P is from Asus – we’re guaranteed it’ll be affordable!
The 1008P has a seashell design with a chiclet keyboard (as seen in the image above). It’s by far my favorite design that Asus has come out with for the Eee PC. Little else is known and speculation is the 1008P will be revealed at the CES in January 2010.
We do know that some ports such as the Ethernet port will be hidden underneath the faux leather skin. Rumor has it the battery is removable (unlike the current Asus 1008HA) and can easily be slid out. Not bad – in fact the unremovable battery was probably the main reason the 1008HA didn’t catch on. That and the fact it only had a 6 hour battery life in contrast to the 10.5 hour Asus 1005HA.
Word is the faux leather design (which is awesome) was designed by Karim Rashid.
We can expect word on pricing and availability after CES/January.
