Asus 1005PE – First PineView netbook on Amazon Best seller list
The Asus 1005PE-PU with a promised battery life of 14 hours and the new Intel N450 processor is available for $370 and is #3 on Amazon’s best selling netbook list.
To give you a frame of reference, the Asus 1005PE-MU17 is available for $340 with the Intel N450 but with a normal 6 cell battery that only offers 11 hours of battery life. “Only.” Oddly, the previous model of the Asus 1005HA with the 1.66GHz N280 processor and 10 hours of battery life is available for $335 – kind of high considering the old gen processor…
So the question when comparing the 1005PE-PU and 1005PE-MU is:
Is 3 hours of extra battery life worth $40? Esp. if you’re already getting 11 hours of battery life!
Have we reached a tipping point where hey that extra 3 hours doesn’t matter ’cause the majority of people are still on 3 cell batteries with 3 hours battery life if they’re lucky? Once they can’t use battery life as a unique selling point, what can will netbook manufacturers turn to??
