Acer Review, Asus Review – Netbook 10

Asus is releasing a new flavor of its best selling Eee PC 1005HA netbook: a business edition, all suited up in gray too. The 1005HA Business Edition offers more or less the same specs but comes with Windows XP Professional which allows it to up the RAM to 2GB. It also comes with a gray finish which is rather fetching on it, don’t you think?

Specs: 1.66GHz Intel N280 processor, 2GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, 10 hour battery life

I’m not sure why having a 2GB memory makes the netbook more ‘business like.’ Or why Asus chose Windows XP Professional over Windows 7. But the netbook isn’t releasing in the US anytime soon so we have a while to be wowed before we dismiss it completely. The Asus 1005HA Business Edition is currently only available in Japan for the equivalent of $715 – don’t worry the price will undoubtedly come down by the time it makes its way States-side.

Compare to: HP 5101 Business Netbook

The 1005HA Business Edition will probably compete with the $400 HP 5101 Business Netbook. The HP 5101 comes with similar specs (Windows XP and 1GB RAM instead of XP Professional and 2GB RAM though) and half the battery life (4.5 hours as opposed to the Asus 1005HA’s 10+ hours). The HP 5101 did impress us with its fast charge and emphasis on hard drive protection (good for travel). Read our HP 5101 Review.
