Asus 1000HA Now Comes with Chiclet Keyboard

The Asus Eee PC 1000HA is a fairly reliable machine with very few design flaws – one of which is that the touchpad keys are too stiff and the right shift key is too far off. Asus has addressed those issues by replacing the keyboard on the 1000HA series with a chiclet keyboard which is similar to those being used on Macs. The keys are better, and the right shift key has also been placed where most people are used to hitting it.

Asus had already fixed up the keyboard details with the the  1000HE and has now also decided to improve the HA. Aside from the new keyboard, nothing else has been changed. It still comes with the Intel Atom 1.6 ghz processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, and XP Home.

For those of you wanting the new 1000HA, however, better take note of the  model number. The one with the chiclet keyboard is EPC1000HA-BLK026X. I checked Amazon and the available Asus Eee PC 1000HA is still the older EPC1000HA-BLK001X (with the old keyboard), so you might want to wait a while before getting one.
