Artistic Acer Aspire One 8.9″ for $3000 at eBay

When we said that netbooks can also be considered fashion accessories like the Vivienne Tam Edition of the HP mini 10″ 1140 NR (Retails for $643 at Amazon), we didn’t have any idea just how much of a fashion accessory it could really be. Just take a look at this Acer Aspire One 8.9″ netbook that had been painted by UFO-Hayashi, one of the most famous gadget artists in Japan. Using the traditional Japanese Zen painting called “kyo-yu-zen”, Hayashi also paints PCs, phones and iPods.

The refurbished Acer Aspire One looks definitely all Zen and runs on Windows XP with an Intel Atom processor, 1GB RAM and 120GB HDD and is up for bids on eBay with a starting bid of a whopping $3,000. So far, there aren’t any takers, probably because:

1. It’s refurbished.
2. It costs $3,000.
3. It has an 8.9″ screen when most people prefer bigger screens on their netbooks.
4. It costs $3,000.
5. For $3,000, you can buy 8.5 brand new Acer Aspire One AOD150s from Amazon.

The idea is quite lovely and the art is fantastic, but is the netbook worth the price of the art that’s painted on it?
