Amazon’s Kindle now works on Netbooks
Looks like e-readers aren’t a threat to netbooks after all. Amazon just released a version of the Kindle software that’s Windows compatible (Windows XP, Vista and 7) and runs on netbooks. So now, you don’t have to choose between e-readers and netbooks. You can have both in one (and I’m not referring to the double screen dualbook).

Sure this means people are more likely to opt for the computing experience of the netbook over the pricey Kindle. But it’s Christmas time, and Amazon will be making bank on all the eBooks it’ll sell as more and more PC users get the Kindle software.
Kindle on Netbook
The software allows you to do the following:
- Get the best reading experience available on your PC. No Kindle required
- Access your Kindle books even if you don’t have your Kindle with you
- Automatically synchronizes your last page read and annotations between devices with Whispersync
- Create bookmarks and view the annotations you created on your Kindle
- Search and browse more than 360,000 books, including 10 of 112 New York Times® Best Sellers. If you are a non-U.S. customer, book availability may vary
- Kindle newspapers, magazines, and blogs are not currently available for Kindle for PC
*Requires 100MB space to run
