Acer Aspire One 751 Reviewed, Found Lacking

acer-aspire-one-7511Pocket-Lint.com has reviewed Acer’s newest baby, the Acer Aspire One 751 and found it sadly lacking. While the new netbook boasts of an 11.6-inch LED-backlit display with a slim chassis that packs pretty much everything and pretty good design, there’s all there is to it: a pretty good design.

While the screen is large and gives you an crisp 1366 x 768 pixel display, it apparently isn’t a prime piece of equipment because, at 8 mm thick and made of plastic, it could easily be bent and twisted so that the screen is distorted. I shudder to think about what could happen to it while inside your bag while you were in transit (which is the point of netbooks in the first place).

And sporting an Intel Atom Z520 which only runs at 1.33GHz instead of the netbook standard Intel Atom N270 at 1.66GHz, this netbook is also seriously lacking when it comes to performance. The 11.6″ screen is a great idea but with the Z530, the Acer Aspire One 751 can’t even play 720p content, much less HD videos.

The keyboard is also said to be a nightmare. Even though it has comfortable-sized keys, the flat keyboard bends and flexes while you type, and the touchpad is too small.

Another point that would kill the Acer Aspire One 751 is the battery. With battery life being one of the major points that netbook buyers look at, the 3 hours the standard 3-cell battery can run on this netbook is clearly not encouraging.

Apparently, the wait for the perfect 11.6″ netbook isn’t over.
