Acer Aspire One 10 inch Netbooks – Acer AOD150 10.1″
Acer released the 10.1″ line of Acer Aspire netbooks in Feb 2009 (Feb 9th 2009 for the US) – the Acer Aspire One AOD 150 is available in Blue, Red, White, and Black.
Here are the important details -
- Prices begin at $349.99 – so once again, Acer keeps its netbooks extremely well priced relative to the competition. You can’t really do better than this for a reasonably priced netbook.
- A much needed improvement over the 8.9″ model – The Aspire One comes with a six-cell battery, providing up to six hours of computing power.
- Features an Intel Atom N270 Processor, Windows XP Home, 1GB RAM, integrated 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, and a 160GB internal hard drive.
- It has a 10.1-inch CrystalBrite™ backlit display – its based on 5th generation LCD fabs and is brighter and has more saturation than comparable models.
- The AOD150 is available in four high-gloss color options including seashell white, sapphire blue, ruby red and diamond black.
Scott Lin, President of Acer’s Taiwan Division, claims a better screen than Asus’ higher priced S101 netbook -
Lin said the new Aspire One model employs liquid-crystal-display panels produced by fifth-generation LCD fabs and are brighter and more saturated than Asustek Computer Inc’s S101 10.2-inch netbook, which uses LCDs produced by a 3G fab.
The new 10 inch range looks really good -

Acer Aspire One 10″ Ratings
Acer has done an amazing job, and earns some stellar ratings -
-
Power + Performance: A solid A-. Note: For its price, its really good performance.
-
Price: At $349 and above, these are A+ prices.
-
Looks: A solid A.
-
Portability: Weights just under 3 pounds and the slightly larger size means an A-.
-
Usability: A-. Reviews mention keyboard is still a bit small (as it keeps the keyboard of the 8.9″ model) and buttons aren’t great.
Overall, that’s a solid, solid A/A- grade. Acer’s 10″ Aspire AOD150 is one of the best netbooks around, and the best low priced netbook you could find. Very Highly Recommended.
