A Wireless Mouse specifically for Netbooks? Oh Microsoft, you think you’re being so innovative.
Microsoft is launching a new mouse, the Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000, aimed specifically at netbook users comes August. The mouse comes with BlueTrack Technology and works on virtually any kind of surface (except for glass and mirrored surfaces), has a tiny USB transceiver that you can stow in the mouse itself, 2.4GHz reliable wireless and 10 hour battery life. All for $40. How marvelous and unheard of! It’s surprising that other mouses don’t display such technology. Oh wait. They do.

You have to feel sorry for the public relations team on this product. They must have had a hard time trying to make this mouse sound like it does things no other mouse can. The only cool thing Microsoft’s 4000 does is have a button that flips between open windows – only for Windows 7 running pcs though. P.S. it’s interesting that the mouse requires a 100MB hard drive space (!!!!!) on PCs but only 30MB on Macs. That’s a lot of space for a netbook, especially one with SSD storage.
If you don’t want to wait until August, here’s a bunch of wireless mouses you can buy (variety of prices):

Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse
Perfect because of how tiny the USB transceiver is (just like Microsoft’s new mouse). Amazon’s selling it with a $15 rebate, at $40.

.Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000
Funny that Microsoft is launching a new mouse when it already has this one! It connects to your computer via Bluetooth, so you don’t have to worry about a USB sticking out at all. Ofcourse, you want to ensure your netbook has Bluetooth and that using the Bluetooth connection won’t suck up your power & battery life. At Amazon at $34.

Logitech V450 Cordless Laser Mouse
I actually own this mouse, and am using it right now. It works wonderfully. This model is perfect if you don’t mind having the 1inch USB stick out. Available at Amazon for $30.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000
Here’s a cheaper option of a cordless mouse, that does exactly the same thing as all the other ones. Aka, it works. Available for between $13.50 and $23, depending on the color you choose.

You can find some at less than $10 as well, I’m just a stickler for the brands. Note: if you want a mouse with buttons to go back and forward in your browser, you’ll have to pay more and opt for the Logitch Nano or the MS Bluetooth mouse.
.Remember the days when we had mouse balls and had to clean out the dust on a weekly basis for them to work? Gotta love technology.
