$228 eMachine netbooks from Walmart
If you’re okay with a generic netbook with average specs (average meaning the tech specs of mostly all the other netbooks out in the market), then you might want to check out the nearest Walmart the day after Christmas (December 26). They’re planning to offer eMachine netbooks for $228 starting 8:00 a.m.
While being an Acer brand, we can pretty much expect these netbooks to be similar to the other netbooks/laptops from Acer such as the Aspire One and Gateway. The price is definitely attractive and the proximity to Acer may lend a certain amount of credibility.
Plus the fact that it has the basic 10.1″ display, 1GB of RAM, and Windows 7 Starter Edition, pretty much the same specs as your regular Joe netbook.
If you’re interested, you might want to camp outside Walmart as they’re only selling it in-store. There saying that there’s a “minimum of 10 per store”. It’s not clear if that’s THE minimum number of units they’re selling or that’s THE NUMBER of netbooks they will be carrying…

Bought one of these to test. It is the same machine as the 10.1″ Acer One. Same everything, same motherboard… Not I find out that Acer purchased eMachines. It makes sense, so it’s a good buy. All parts & accessories for the Acer One are interchangeable (6 Cell Battery, …)
I love this netbook, why do I need to spend $100 or more for a name brand when I can get the same specs with my e- machine, so far it is an awesome netbook
I bought this net book for my wife, she loves it. Does everything she wants and at less than $250 it is a deal. I have bought e machines before and for the price they are a good buy. If you want all the bell and whistles then you have to come up with the cash. E machines are a low cost machines that do what they were designed for great. And I have not found them any less dependable than other brands in the same price range. You think of them as disposable, after two years buy a new one, and you will still come out saving money.
Well, here it is Feb 5 and I’m looking for a netbook, cheapest price possible. I just called my local Walmart and they have LOADS of those ecmachine netbooks left at $229! I am so delighted because I’d been looking at a Dell mini 10 for $249 and an Acer aspire for $299. This one even has a 6-cell battery!
Do not purchase this machine!!!! We purchased ours 1/4/10. We used it for travel so we did not use it much. When we did, it took 6 times to boot up. We have had to reset it to previous settings, even though we have not changed anything. Tried to take back to walmart, but we were outside 15 day window so they would not take it. emachines supposed “customer support” is anything but supportive. Phone number is useless–could not get a person and I could not wade thru all the automated junk to get any answers. Went online, and it took 3 customer service tries (they kept logging off while I was typing answers to their questions) before I got a web link to test out my hard drive, which I am doing now. Pay the extra money and get a better machine. This one is a piece of junk!!!!
do not expect to get customer service on this machine. Just spent a good part of 2 days trying to get info on where to ship this piece of junk to get it fixed. Called 3 times to be told by automatron to go online for live chat with a tech. Talked to 5 different people who told me to do the same thing over and over again. Two of the techs told me to call instead of being online. Finally got the last tech to give me the info to ship this junk to Texas to get it fixed. I will believe it when I see it. This tech also told me I was an “inconvenience”. Isn’t customer service supposed to serve the customer??? I will never purchase emachines again in my life!!!!
Wow- ofcourse like anything there are duds- first and foremost I think some of these ppl need to get a little patience maybe- dont get me wrong- my first experience was bad with this item- the night I purchased it I turned it on and as soon as I put a usb in it started SMOKING.. however I took it straight back exchanged it -stating that any probs and it will go straight back- have been literally working it like crazy to make sure it will not have any problems- and it is my new best friend- I have purchased a $1600.00 dell laptop – all the bells and whistles just to end up with a horrible piece of crap- warranty =sending out a guy in overalls with literally a dollar store set of screwdrivers- he left out screws as well as now it pops!! Horrible- have had to reset it so many times it is crazy- I would take this $228 basic netbook over a name brand anyday- no matter the name the price u will have problems possibly u just take a chance- just like a car, who knows?
Great blog, keeping me from jogging… just joke :) Please put more topics about emachines
got one on clearance for 190 three months ago, wish I would have bought the other two!!!!! :o( I love this so much, it is so awesome, I am looking for another for my daughter. Quit carrying my laptop because this guy is so light. Battery life about 3 hours. You cant find another netbook with these specs for less than 350
got this emachine in January & I love it!! It’s the best little netbook. I’ve been looking for a mini laptop to buy & decided this would be a good purchase. I brought it at Walmart for $228.00. saw it by accident in a case underneath the top where the other laptops were displayed. Didnt buy it that day went online that same night to do some research before I brought it & reviews & they were good so the very next day I brought it. The best decision I’ve made in a long time.
This emachine is crap. First at all is from ACER so after that you can not expect nothing good. Is slowly, without any design. CRAP, real CRAP!!!
I am very sad I got it.
I love it!
It makes all my communications, everywhere, incredible cheap, with a 250 GB hard drive!
AND
not so heavy!
Do not spend money on Brand netbooks! They are NOT better!
(plastic is Plastic!!!
Just works fine with Ubuntu !desktop! version.
(got mine for 200 at micromart!)
I bought the emachine netbook 6 months ago for 250 bucks, within the six months it broke down on me they’re tryin to charge 400 bucks to fix, worst buy I’ve ever made
can yhue make netbooks cheaper so people would want to buy them more?
I bought this email in march 2010 within 2 weeks the machine stopped working, didnt recognize the hard drive I called customer service and sent them my machine. I paid 240 for the machine canadian, cost me 27 bucjks to send it back, got it back within a week. had it working for 2 weeks and the same problem again, this time they have fedex come pick it up for free replaced the harddrive again, because it was the same problem. Ive had this machine for less then a year i used it less then a month of owning it and the hard drive has gone twice. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE FOR ANYBODY. basically you get what you pay for.
