1.83GHz Intel N470 to come out in March!
Microsoft restrictions come and Microsoft restrictions go. Turns out it’s the same with Intel! Your Intel Atom processor running netbooks have been limited to only 1GB of RAM because well, the big guys don’t make so much money off them lil’ processors [UPDATE: and to prevent cannibalization of the ULV market]. But with Intel gearing up to launch its Pine Trail line, the restrictions are slowly fading away.
The N450 chip which is out in January will use Pine Trail software and will still come with the 1GB RAM restriction. But the N470 processor which is out in March 2010 will – not only come with 1.83GHz! – but will also leave behind the 1GB RAM restrictions in its wake.
A great reason to upgrade to N470, no?
As the onslaught of Windows 7 bearing netbooks shows, netbook manufacturers are eager to stay with the trends and updating. So while the guys at Engadget are weary about Windows 7 Starter & the N450 becoming the bottom benchmark for netbooks, I suspect a couple of N470 Windows 7 Home Premium >1GB RAM running netbooks will put up a fight for some market space.
What say you?
